DOMINANT AND HIGHLY CONSISTENT PITCHER
He began his career in 1965 with Fresnillo, Zacatecas, at just 18 years old, emerging as a top prospect in Mexican baseball. From a young age, he showcased his pitching talent, displaying physical strength, confidence, and remarkable consistency — qualities that led him down the path to success.
He was one of the standout pitchers of the 1970s. Although he started his Mexican League career with the Charros de Jalisco, in the organization led by Dr. Álvaro Lebrija, he ultimately became a true star with Unión Laguna.
At the peak of his career, from 1974 to 1977, there was no harder-working or more dominant pitcher in the summer league. During those four seasons, he won 20 or more games each year, including 25 victories in 1974.
In the history of Mexican baseball, he is regarded as one of the greatest pitchers of all time. He played 22 seasons in the summer league, compiling 233 wins against 170 losses, striking out 1,871 batters, and posting an impressive 3.01 earned run average (ERA).
In the Mexican Pacific League, he pitched for 19 winters, earning 98 wins and 93 losses, striking out 856 opponents, and finishing with an outstanding 2.83 ERA.

WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS AND BUILDS A STADIUM
Determined and successful, he served as an executive of the Naranjeros de Hermosillo from 1962 to 1986, capturing multiple championships thanks to his vision and outstanding player signings.
Among his achievements as president of the Hermosillo club were the league titles in the 1963–64, 1970–71, and 1974–75 seasons, elevating the prestige of his team.
Another major accomplishment came in the 1975–76 season, when the team won the Mexican Pacific League championship and went on to capture the Caribbean Series title, a feat accomplished in the Dominican Republic in February 1976.
The construction of Estadio Héctor Espino in the early 1970s was another significant milestone in his career. Fans responded enthusiastically, turning out in strong support of their team.
His knowledge and dedication also led him to serve on an honorary commission for winter baseball, contributing to the administrative and operational restructuring of the Mexican Pacific League.
